Mark Rouse
Mark has been making art for over 5 decades, his subject matter and style has often been effected by the situations in his life. After graduation from Anderson College with a degree in Art Education, Mark spent several years encouraging young artists at Hamilton Southeastern Schools. However, the demands of a growing family lead Mark to a career in technology. During this period, photography became the focus of his art.
Until April 17, 2015.
Due to severe diabetic retinopathy Mark was pronounced legally blind. Unsure how long he would still be able to paint, Mark developed a method combining traditional watercolor techniques with digital tools. A 50 inch television became his canvas. Mark's vision has now been restored to normal, but during his time of recovery he developed the technique and style that defines his current work.
